Why should I switch to The Doggy Kitchen?
We care for our dogs as if they are our children, and that means providing them with the same, if not, better lifestyle than we provide for ourselves! We not only put our brains, but also our hearts into making our food so that your dogs can have a wholesome, healthy and tasty meal for the rest of their lives!
What's wrong with kibble? I've been feeding my dogs that for years!
Yes, dogs can survive on eating kibble for their entire life. It meets the minimum requirements for a dog to survive, but what we'd like owners to consider is, "How do you want your dog to live?". Do you want them to live a long, happy, healthy life enjoying what they're eating? Or do you want them to eat something that's just keeping them alive?
Kibble was made simply for the convenience of dog owners. Dog food companies had to create a product that is affordable, easy-to-feed and has a long shelf-life. Do you really believe that large dog food companies truly care about the well-being of your dog?
As dog owners, it is our responsibility to do our own research and understand these three factors when it comes to selecting a high-quality dog food: WHAT, WHERE and HOW
-
WHAT ingredients are in the food?
-
Do you know every ingredient?
-
What kind of ingredients do you think they need to add in order for kibble to have such a long shelf life, and to make it so affordable?
-
Do you know why each ingredient is in their food?
-
How many items are on the ingredient list?
-
WHERE are the ingredients sourced from?
-
Do you know where their "real meat" comes from or what part of the animal it comes from?
-
HOW is the food being processed?
-
What kind of heat source are they using to cook their food?
-
When companies claim that real meat is the first ingredient on their ingredient list, what kind of procedures do you think "real meat" needs to go through in order to become a small, crunchy ball that can last for years in a pantry? What kind of nutritional value do you think is left from that "real meat"?
How much stew do I feed my dog?
Be mindful that with new food, it may take some time to get the feeding amount right. All dogs are not created equally, so use this simply as a guide. Increase/decrease the amount you feed if your dog is looking a little too lean/chubby. Feeding amount is dependent on your dog's age, activity level and breed.
For Adult Dogs, moderate activity level, we recommend feeding 2-3% of dog's body weight:
For Puppies:
It is essential for puppies to get the proper amount of food. At this stage of life, they are growing at a rapid pace and all of their muscles, bones and organs are developing to their full adult size. Therefore, during the first 12 months of their lives, they require more food fed more frequently than an adult dog.
-2-4 months: 6-10% of their body weight
-4-7 months: 4-5% of their body weight
-7-12 months: 3-4% of their body weight
-12+months: Follow guide above depending on their adult weight
When feeding our stew to your dog for the first time...
Slowly introduce our stew to your dog over a period of 5-7 days in increasing increments.
What if my dog doesn't like the stew?
Sometimes dogs may not be used to eating a certain protein because they've never had it before. Try and warm up their food a little to make it more enticing to them. You can also try a different protein. We are working on adding more varieties, such as vension and chicken! If that still doesn't work than please contact us and we'll be more than happy to work something out with you!
How long does your stew stay fresh for?
Our stew comes frozen and is made with fresh ingredients and no added preservatives. Therefore, you must store in the freezer for best results. Our stew is good for up to 6 months in the freezer or up to 4 days in the fridge. Never leave out our stew for more than an hour. If your dog doesn't gobble it up right away, put food away in the fridge for later.
